A future
you can
feel.

We explore what technology can become when the whole body is part of the experience.

EXPERIENCES THAT
REACH THE WHOLE BODY
触覚から、未来をつくる。HAPTICS · PERCEPTION · HUMAN CONNECTIONKEIO MEDIA DESIGN / JAPAN

What if touch
changed everything?

A message you feel. A skill shared through the hands. Music experienced with your whole body.

At Team Haptics, we design and study experiences through touch. We bring together prototyping, human perception, and creative practice to explore how technology can connect people.

Our roots in Porous Haptics

Part of the Embodied Media Project at Keio KMD. Building on a research tradition of making the boundaries between physical and digital, self and others, more permeable.

Three directions.
So many possibilities.

These are the questions we're opening up now. Find the one you can't stop thinking about.

NEXT QUESTIONS / 01

Wear your
next sense.

What if a ring, a wristband, or a piece of clothing could give you a new way to feel? We explore haptic interfaces that move with the body and belong in everyday life.

ASK YOURSELF

How can we make touch technology as natural to wear as your favourite clothes?

NEXT QUESTIONS / 02

What could
intelligence feel like?

How could AI help us design sensations, understand the body, or create new ways to interact? This direction brings AI wearables and haptic experiences into the same conversation.

Make everyday
feel different.

What if the things around us could respond through touch? We want to explore haptics in furniture, rooms, and shared experiences—not just in the devices we carry.

ASK YOURSELF

How could a room become part of an experience, rather than just the place it happens?

01Functional fashion

Wristbands, rings, headphones, glasses — things you want to wear, with new ways to feel.

02AI wearables

Smart watches and rings, AI glasses, data gloves, and interfaces that learn with us.

03Next-gen immersive experiences

Game development, storytelling, VR and AR that reach beyond the screen.

04Smart furniture

Haptic blankets, mattresses, and everyday objects that respond to the body.

05Communication beyond vision and audio

New ways to express presence, share sensations, and connect through touch.

What you'll experience here

Make it tangible

TOUCH / CONNECTION

FEEL TECH

Sharing touch across distance, with a future in everyday life.

The team presentation describes FEEL TECH as a collaboration with NTT DOCOMO and commissure, focused on bringing haptics into daily life. Its next questions include better prototypes, new content, and studying the experience with people.

One related system, FEEL TECH Wear, combines feedback at the wrist and fingertips while leaving most of the palm free.

FEEL TECH Wear collaborators: NTT DOCOMO, commissure, and SPLINE DESIGN HUB, with Keio KMD.

BODY / SOUND / LIGHT

Synesthesia X1

Sound, light, and touch meet in a full-body experience.

Featured in the team presentation, Synesthesia X1 invites us to think about experiences that reach the whole body.

A question to explore: how might we design music and immersive experiences around touch, rather than treating it as an extra?

CrafTouch project photograph
CRAFT / EMBODIED KNOWLEDGE

CrafTouch

Exploring how the feel of a craft can travel between people.

CrafTouch explores how haptics and robotics can record and share the embodied knowledge of craftspeople. The pottery work brings researchers into the studio to learn from movements and sensations that are difficult to put into words.

The related EmbodyCraft paper investigates haptic embodied experiences for reflective practice in throwing clay.

Collaboration: Japan Craft & Locality Association, Ikutouen, Keio University, Nagoya Institute of Technology, and commissure.
